Before you accept

A fair price does not make a trade safe. These are the checks that matter in Steam.

  1. What you receive is locked for 7 days, and the trade can be reversed in that time. Everything that arrives by Steam trade is Trade Protected for 7 days: it can be used in game but not sold, traded, put in a contract or given stickers. A reversal costs the sender a 30-day trade and market ban but still returns the items. Never pay for skins outside Steam (cash, crypto, gift cards, another site): a reversal leaves you with no item and no refund. That is $29.72 (instant cash) you cannot turn into cash before 10 Oct. 2. Read the exact items in the Steam confirmation. Wear, StatTrak, Souvenir, stickers and item count. A swapped lookalike at the last second is the most common trick. Confirm only in the Steam mobile app, and only from the profile you checked.
  3. Never share your API key, trade link or Steam Guard codes, and do not follow links from chat to a "trade checker", "verification" or "escrow" site. Real marketplaces never ask you to send items to a person to hold.
  4. Check what the price leaves out. Low floats, rare paint seeds, Doppler phases and valuable stickers sell above the listing price. If either side has one, price it with a float or sticker tool before agreeing.

Counterparty checks

Optional: paste their profile to read account age, level and bans from Steam.

A clean profile is not a guarantee. Account age and bans help, but they cannot tell you whether the person will complete the trade as agreed. Confirm every item in the Steam trade window.

Trade fairness questions

How do I check whether a CS2 trade is fair?

Price each item by what it sells for, not by its Steam Market price alone: Steam prices run above marketplace prices and ignore float, pattern and stickers. This page prices both sides on one basis at a time (instant cash bids, the lowest ask across eight markets, or the Steam lowest listing) and shows who comes out ahead and by how many dollars.

What do You gain, You lose and Even mean?

The gap is measured against the smaller side. Within 5% either way the trade is Even. Beyond that, You gain means what you receive is worth more than what you give on the chosen price basis, and You lose means the opposite. The default basis is instant cash when every item has a bid, otherwise the lowest ask.

Why can I not sell what I receive straight away?

Everything that arrives in a Steam trade is Trade Protected for 7 days: it can be used in game but not sold, traded or put in a contract. During that week the sender can reverse the trade, which costs them a 30-day trade and market ban but still returns the items.

Which trade scams are most common?

A lookalike swapped in at the last second (different wear, no StatTrak or Souvenir tag, other stickers); payment outside Steam, which a reversal leaves unrefunded; "trade checker" or fake escrow sites that ask for your API key or an item; and impersonators claiming they can reverse your trade. Read the exact items in the Steam confirmation and confirm only in the Steam mobile app.

Does the price include float, patterns and stickers?

No. Prices are for the item type and wear. Low floats, rare paint seeds, Doppler phases and valuable stickers can sell above the listing price, so price those with a float or sticker tool before agreeing.
